Project: BPM020098 Sinkhole Repair - Maryland State Police Barracks "B"
Project Description:
Repair sinkhole that formed in front of the curb inlet structure, the sinkhole formed due to the interior wall of the curb inlet collapsing and multiple failed joints inside the 15" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) that drained into this inlet. The front interior wall and curb were removed and all of the sediment was removed from within the inlet, the front wall and curb were replaced. Multiple joints along the connection between the two inlets were compromised, these failed joints were allowing sediment to enter the pipe and forming other sinkholes in the parking lot. The joints were excavated and repaired and multiple sections of the pipe were adjusted for proper drainage. A change order was issued once this portion of the work was completed, while removing sediment from the inlet a 12" PVC drainage pipe was uncovered. This 12" PVC pipe served as an initial outflow that drained into a Bio-Retention facility down stream. The outflow pipe was jet-vacuumed and during the next rain event the water drained properly from the inlet.
